HE'S BACK...

I'm happy to report that our little Sabaka is back home today after just two nights in the doggy hospital. When we picked him up at the Vet's office, the Dr. said all his blood counts were great, except for ALT counts(Liver) which are still extremely high. She said it didn't warrant the cost of keeping him for a few more days, and sent him home with antibiotics, pain medicine, and a list of do's and dont's. For the next weeks were supposed to keep him quiet and not let him play, run, jump, go up or down stairs. Hmmmmm, not sure what that leaves him with, but, I told her we'd sure try. When she brought him out he more himself, and spent the first 2 minutes just licking my face and sighing. It was actually kinda funny.

On the drive home it was clear he was back to himself, and he immediately tried to jump down off the seat (and succeeded, twice). Since running is off-limits for a week, I walked him in the yard, and then brought him inside to get a better look at his injured leg. Before I could put my coat away and answer the phone, he managed to sneak under the hallway gate and trot down the basement steps, poop on the carpet, and then come back up the stairs. Argh! Since then, thankfully, he's been pretty sedate, most sleeping, and occasionally moving from one spot to another. For the past hour, however, he has found one spot he really loves, and no matter what I do, I can't encourage him to move:

This is going to be a very long week! I'm so happy he's okay, and glad he's home again, but the way I figure it, I am the one who is gonna need the pain medicine! Welcome Home Sabaka!

P.S. Cap's hand is So much better today, the swelling has completely gone down and the superglue he used to keep it closed (yes, he used over the counter super glue to stop it from bleeding and stay closed) has done the trick. Still throbs, but there's no way I'm sharing the dogs pain pills with him!
