Tackle it Tuesday, on Thursday

I was so busy with Sabaka, and trying to finish "my" list of stuff that needed to be done before the boat got launched, that I forgot about my committment to "Tackle it Tuesday". (So much for commitment, I did it one week, then forgot, right?) Well I didn't want to just brush it off so I had my very on Tackle it Thursday. I figured I would just tackle one job - the mail/receipt drawer. Something that has been long overdue, a mess, and dreaded. Here's a glimpse at what it looked like before I got motivated:
Now this drawer may not look THAT bad to you, but trust me, scary things lurked here. It's the drawer I put my mail in after the initial keep/toss sort, as well as receipts I need to keep, JR's stickers for his reward charts, and coupons. I also end up shoving papers and documents I don't want to forget about in here, though I'm not sure why, since, they quickly become buried nd forgotten! Ideally, once a week it should be purged when I sit down to pay bills, but with online bill payment and account statements, I tend to let the stuff pile up until I can't close the drawer anymore. Of course you'd think that a person with ANY common sense would then clean it out, but not me. I generally weed through a bit, toss out or file a few, and when I can close the drawer again, I do that...and then walk away without looking back. Well it finally caught up with me so I just bit the bullet and cleaned it out. Whatcha think? Great, huh? Reality is it took a few hours to complete since all the mail had to be sorted then tossed or filed. Then I had to go from room to room, putting away all the other random stuff I found - like postage stamps and garden seeds and game pieces from JR's games, and about 40 other pieces of this or that. Then I had to sort through the expired coupons and go through all the receipts and toss all the ones I no longer needed. But how long do you think it'll be before this drawer becomes another Tackle-it-Tuesday job? Any guesses? Well I wish it'd stay this way forever, reality is it won't, and therefore, I think I'll just sit here a minute and appreciate the organization and lack of clutter! Okay all of you, start thinking about your own projects for next week - I don't want to be the only Tackler on Tuesday!
