...of sorts. After 3 years at SMWN, JR "graduated" from Pre-K this morning, with lots of pomp & circumstance. They always have a cute programs for the parents and grandparents, and generally one kid in each class provides the comic relief (the first year it was JR. providing such entertainment) This year he was just middle of the road, acting like an old pro. Of course the parents of the cute 3 year old who froze when he got up on stage and proceeded to shove his entire hand down his throat while he v-e-r-y s-l-o-w-l-y attempted to exit the stage unnoticed are likely wondering if it will get better next year, so yes, not to worry - this time next year it'll be a new kid that has the entire crowd in stitches and his parents mortified...
JR's class sang two songs, and then one by one they went up to get their certificates. As usual I took lots of pictures, and some even came out good this time. I am getting better with this new camera and all the features, but, in the meantime, we get lots and lots of over or underexposed shots! My favorite one though is this one of JR & S on stage:
After getting their certificates, they both put them on the floor of the stage and spent a good 2 minutes staring at them, appearing to be reading them intently, word by word. But that's not the cute part - the cute part is the fact that neither child can read - so whatever it was they were doing remains a mystery.
In any case, he is officially done with conventional school for at least another 14 months since we're homeschooling come fall. But, that's a long ways off, and we're looking forward to a few months of sleeping in, (translation - hopefully we'll get to stay in bed 'til 7:30 sometimes) lots of sunshine, no schedule, being lazy when it suits us and most importantly to Jr. seeing how many thing on his "TWENTY THINGS I'D LIKE TO DO THIS SUMMER" list we can check off.
Watching him today I couldn't help but think back to the little boy who began at SMWN 3 y;ears ago, and how he's grown so very much. I decided to throw together a quick video, that looks back on his little life...I had a ton of fun making it (well except for the part where I messed up after I was 95% done and had to start from scratch) so take a click here and take a peek!

Congratulations Skip! What a week it's been for you.
By the way, I'm really diggin' you cool new hair cut. Is that your Summer Do? Kai has the same one, maybe even a bit shorter.
Yes, Kai's was shorter - we commented when he was us with Bob. And Skip is also getting used to the new haircut, in fact yesterday when I wanted to comb it before his graduation - likely the first time since it was cut, he asked if he needed another haircut. He's getting used to not having to comb it, and liking it!
That is such a neat video - and I could tell that Skip makes you proud!
