Around 4:00 the weather turned from slightly overcast & mild to:
* AT 418 PM EDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM CAPABLE OF PRODUCING A TORNADO ... MOVING NORTHEAST AT 34 MPH. * THE TORNADO WILL BE NEAR... HEAVY RAIN MAY OBSCURE THIS TORNADO. TAKE COVER NOW! IF YOU WAIT TO SEE OR HEAR IT COMING...IT MAY BE TOO LATE TO GET TO A SAFE PLACE. THE SAFEST PLACE TO BE DURING A TORNADO IS IN A BASEMENT. GET UNDER A WORKBENCH OR OTHER PIECE OF STURDY FURNITURE. IF NO BASEMENT IS AVAILABLE...GO TO AN INTERIOR HALLWAY OR SMALL ROOM THE LOWEST FLOOR. USE BLANKETS OR PILLOWS TO COVER YOUR BODY. STAY AWAY FROM WINDOWS. ABANDON MOBILE HOMES OR VEHICLES AND GET TO A STRONG BUILDING. IF NO SHELTER IS AVAILABLE...LIE FLAT IN A DITCH OR LOW SPOT AND COVER YOUR HEAD WITH YOUR HANDS. A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1000 PM EDT WEDNESDAY EVENING But, it appears to have passed, and gone out to sea, but we did get the torrential rain...and my poor husband got stranded...out in the driveway. You see he was loading the Van with all the camping gear for tomorrow. He is going with a group of people who are meeting tonite to load up the 15 passenger van some of them are taking. I was here, blogging, since JR finally fell asleep as they said he would after the surgery. Apparently however, Cap said something about bringing some stuff outside.
I admit, didn't really hear him... In between his telling me that and his return trip back inside, the sky just opened up, and it was like a wall of rain. Being the attentive wife I am, I didn't notice he was gone for more than 10 minutes - but then when I looked outside, there he was, just standing under the hatch as the rain just poured down. The back was so full of gear, that he couldn't even crawl inside and into the front seats. Figuring this made a great photo, I ran to get my camera. Poor guy thought I was going to get an umbrella to throw to him, and when I opened the front door to snap my picture, he was quite insulted :) I got the picture, and eventually, he got an umbrella.... (This picture is NOT out of focus - it's the density of the rain!)
Hey, it's all about priorities and clearly I have mine!

I saw the news about the tornado watch and thought about you guys. I know they're not so frequent up there. As much as we have them down here, I still hate them! I freak out every time. I had Boyd in the bathroom hiding out when he was about a week old because of a storm! :)
I got stuck in Walmart yesterday afternoon waiting for the rain to stop and the thunder to die down. After about an hour, Meenie and I made a run for it.
Holy Rainshowers Batman! It was really coming down!! I'm glad it didn't last too terribly long.
And, YOU ROCK for taking a picture BEFORE giving him an umbrella. You are one true blogger! LOL
