THE BIG 5.5

Remember when you were little and each birthday was a HUGE milestone? Do you remember when you would brag to your friends about the fact you were older than they were? Do you remember looking forward to turning 6 the very next day after your 5th birthday? Well for some unknown (and probably never known) reason to us, JR has just looked forward to being 5-and-a half. Emphasis on "and a half". Lately anytime someone asked him how old he was, he would say, "five, but I'm gonna be 5 and a half pretty soon". Well that is until today, which was the big day! Yes, JR is now officially 5-1/2, and to celebrate such a long awaited event, we got him a game (a whopping $2.50 game from Target - gotta love that bargain aisle") and Mommy baked him 1/2 a cake with 5-1/2 candles. We even sang "Happy 5-1/2 birthday" to him. He was SO happy and SO surprised, and it was just nice to celebrate some of the things that seem trivial to us, but so very important to one little boy. Happy 5-1/2 birthday JR! You are SO big, and so special! We love you more each day...

P.S. In case you're wondering - "half" way through the cake, he started talking about being S-I-X. Ugh, I can't bear the fact that my little baby will be 6! I'm gonna need a whole 6 months to get used to THAT concept...
