Parenting the second time around...

My guys just returned from their "guys only" three day camping trip @ Crawford Notch, NH. It was such a great time for both of them. A group of men and kids went up, and despite a very soggy first day/night, they are already planning next years trip. They hiked, swam in the Saco, cooked over open fires, and just plain bonded. One of the favorite activities for the boys was exploring the creek that ran right behind their camp. It was a 4 foot slope down to the creek, and JR soon discovered it was much more fun to slide down the muddy slope into the water, rather than walk down.

His bathing suit shows just how much fun it was. Cap said some of the guys were kidding him that he (Cap) was gonna be in trouble when he arrived home with this muddy bathing suit. Truth is, 2o years ago, Cap wasn't likely to let him do it, and I likely would have been mortified. This time around, our perspectives and priorities are slightly different. We agree a mud drenched swimsuit equals a memory that'll last a lifetime!

We are definetely having much more fun parenting this time around!
