Why is it when a person in the U.S., calls a cutsomer service center for help, they end up in India? ARGH!
Yesterday I signed up for a free month of Real Player just so I could get the 10 free downloads. I wanted music for my "classroom". Specifically songs like "Clean up", etc. That was the simple part, signing up. First I d/l one song, tried it, it worked, yippee. Then I went to d/l three. They tried to get me to download the "Rhapsody download manager" but I opted to just have it zipped. Worked fine. Went back for my last 5 and the darn zip file choked. When I rebooted, the file hadn't been downloaded. I went to the website, and tried to d/l again, but my account records said I had already done so, and wouldn't let me re-download it. I emailed CS, and 24 hours later, they sent me two useless emails with links to two different FAQ sites. Frustrated I called them. It was like I was Dorothy on the Wizard of Oz, and I could hear someone whispering "You're not in the U.S of A anymore, you're in India"
"Aachit" (I kid you not) said he would help me - or at least I think that's what he said. This is how the hour long conversation went:
Yes ma'am my name is Aachit, and I will 'elp you with you problem. Just give me you name, account number, password, answer to security question, Computer's O.S., connection speed, your first-born child, etc.
My download chocked the computer and the files never downloaded. How can I re-download?
Blah, Blah, Blah. So as I understand, after you download, you cannot unzip the file?
No, the file didn't download. It froze, I had to reboot.
Okay, so as I understand, you had computer problem and had to close yoru computer and when you turn computer back on, the file could not open.
NO! THE-FILE-DID-NOT-DOWNLOAD! THERE-WAS-NO-FILE-TO-OPEN.
Yes, Ma'am, I see. Can you tell me if you had a problem with you other purchases earlier in the day? And did you use the Rhapsoday download manager for any of these, or did you choose zip files?
I zipped the first two purchased without a problem. The third one, which I also tried to zip, choked!
Yes, Ma'am, I see. Let me please put you on hold and look at your file. Is that okay?
(And my choices are what?)
Yeah, yeah, I'm not going anywhere...
<<<<<<
Thank you ma'am for your patience. So I will credit you for one download. Please try to re-purchase one of the songs that did not download, and tell me if it works okay. BUT I WANT YOU TO USE THE RHAPSODY DOWNLOAD MANGER, DO NOT ZIP THE FILE.
(First of all, I'm not patient, but it's not like I have a choice but to put up with this.)
Okay, hold on.
(Not 15 Seconds Later) Can you tell me if it downloaded okay?
Are you kidding me, I haven't even got my password for the site typed in yet! Geez. Hold on.....okay, it's downloading. (via zip, thank you very much - if I wanted to download the Rhapsody D/L manager, I would have done it yesterday). Okay, all set, it worked fine (via zip that is!!!)
Okay, Ma'am. As I can tell the problem is with your operating system which does not allow you to zip the files. So I will credit your account for the other songs you did not receive and you can purchase them again. Please remember to use the D/L manager.
Oh yeah, you bet. Zip bad, Download Manager good. You're the bomb, Aachit!

So does that mean you got 2 extra songs?
Funny stuff.
That is freakin' hilarious!
I am laughing so hard!
I'm glad you got it figured out even if Aachit didn't understand a thing!
