How old people spend their birthdays...

Since I was doing my best to pretend it wasn't my birthday yesterday, I spent most of it doing what I normally do. And this time of year, that means harvesting whatever is ready in the garden. My mom came over in the a.m. and she & I went out back to pick what was ripe, and then did some blanching, and freezing. Since we have so much this year, we spend alot of time doing it, and apparently from these pictures, TOO MUCH TIME. Rumor has it we've gone mad - but see for your yourself:

I THINK WE JUST MAY NEED AN INTERVENTION!

I'm glad you made the rule about "sometimes we remember one another's birthday and sometimes we don't, and that's ok" Clearly I didn't. But happy bday to you.

BTW, ask Nicolle how bad I am about birthdays. We were best friends for 9 years before I started remembering her birthday. One year I tried so hard to remember it and called her so excited about having remembered. I called her on August 3rd, yelling happy birthday, happy birthday. She said, "Um, my birthday is August 23rd." Oh, sorry. Love you though. :/

Happy Birthday to you!!!! Yes, looks like you've gone "mad" with the veggie pictures! Made me laugh.

Poor Fawn, she has gotten better, but yes, she did call me a month early once. :))

Don't worry about the birthday - you see I don't think remembering someone's birthday is a meaure of their affection for you. I suppose we live in a society that leads us to believe we HAVe to, but, then again, I'm not a conformist. I'm more a "if you feel it the moment" kinda person. Diane and I are alot alike in that respect, and many years we don't send each other cards or even make b'day calls, BUT, other times we'll see something during the year that makes us think "THAT, is perfect for her" and we buy it & send it. Sorta like the Erkel (not)doll you sent JR. You saw it, knew he'd love it, and mailed it to him. He knows you love him and were thinking of him, and that's all that matters...

Happy Birthday! I hope your day is extra special. :)

And, I LOVE the pictures of the veggies. How creative. You grow some HUGE zucchini there! Wow!

Oh man, I'm just catching up on some reading and I missed it was your birthday!! Happy belated birthday - and I LOVE that wish JR made... it reminds me of a few years go (yes, years) during a children's sermon when the pastor asked what are some happy days in your life -- and JJ answered "the day Nathan comes home"... I still tear up thinking of that! Oh, the optimism our children carry and give to US!
