So grandma (well, mom to me, but we just call her Grandma) has been with us since Wednesday when she had a little medical episode. She's fine now, but is staying until she has her MRI and some other test on Monday. Since we hadn't been to the boat for 2 weeks - VERY RARE for us - we talked her into a day on the boat today. It was a beautiful day, 80's, seas were flat calm. She is not a swimmer, and the older she gets the more she fears the water, so getting her to go today was no small task. The last time she went with us was about a year ago, when my brother, SIL and their kids were up, in fact we ALL went out that day. Great day, til the freak thunder/lightning storm as we were enroute from the dock to the beach, which is only a 10 minute trip. That was the worst little storm I'd experienced on the boat.
Anyway, we got there today, great conditions, we went to the beach and anchored. Ate lunch, then headed to the shore.
Cap trying to explain navigation to Grandma
JR & Gram sharing a snack on the boatJR played in the water the entire 3 hours, Grandma relaxed, and I explored a little bit - keeping both of them insight. Mike had gone off to rake quahogs in another area of the Cove. First it got cloudy, then we had some sprinkles. We managed to get back to the boat, and close all the hatches before the downpour started. Well the downpour turned into huge storm - again. Only lasted about 15 minutes, but once again, the seas kicked up, the wind was whipping, and the rain came down in buckets. No lightning this time, just thunder. We are now convinced it's Grandma! We take her out and we get these mini hurricane storms! That's it, we're just not taking her anymore - of course she wouldn't mind one bit - she only goes because we beg her to! After the storm passed we headed back to our mooring, and when the rain let up and the sky once again turned blue, we packed up and took the dinghy back to the marina to unload and start back home. While in the parking lot, we met up with JR's friends Des & Dec and their dad. We talked for a bit while the boys played, and I couldn't resist these pictures.
Here they are, posing for the camera
And this is what they were doing before I had them pose - running around barefoot, jumping and splashing in the puddles left by the storm. Boys, being boys! So what if he won't say his Steve Urkel is a "doll".

I loved this post.
Sounds like you all had an exciting day. I'm so jealous it's only in the 80's there. Waaaa!! I wanna move north!
Those pictures are precious!
Grandma looks pretty good.
Sweet Grandma. I love her!
The pictures are cute. I especially love the feet/leg one!
