The Simple Woman

Dawn, who is an endless source of these post ideas, gave us her answers to these questions that were asked recently in an of Real Simple Magazine, and suggested we all do the same. I enjoyed reading her answers since its a great way to get to know our virtual friends! So, here are my answers to the same questions:

name: Addy

age: 30 (plus 20)

location: Massachusetts

occupation: CEO of our family.

family members: Husband "Cap". Together we have: 3 of my kids: 27,almost 26 & 25, 3 of his kids : 30.28.27, and one that is officially ours, JR- age 5.5 & another son we have considered ours from the moment we learned he was available for adoption - almost 4 years ago. He, H3, will be four in little more than a week.

the last time my child made me laugh: today when I asked him what day of the month it was if yesterday was the twenty-first...and he replied, it's the twenty-twoth!

I carve out time for myself by: getting stullf I have to do early in the day, then enjoying quiet time in the afternoon when JR is either napping (rare lately) or watching his dailly dose of television.

The television mom I'm most like: Hmmm. I'd like to be more like Olivia Walton (yeah, yeah, I know) but I don't measure up, for sure. I guess I'd have to say I'm a mix of her & Lorelei Gilmore.

My favorite outdoor activity to do with my child: play on the beach in the summer, and play in the snow in the winter...

The one thing I wish I had know about parenting before I became a parent: There are truly only a few things in life that really matter, so we can't sweat the small stuff. First time around parenting, my kids had to look perfect all the time. Now, when we return from an outdoor event and JR is filthy, I'm happy 'cuz I know he played hard and had fun!

The most important life lesson I want my child to learn: Each day is a gift from God to be appreciated & enjoyed.

My favorite place to take my children: zoos & museums - we ALL have fun!

The invention I wish I could create to make my life easier: A Jetsons style robot to do the housework, so I can play more...

My most embarrassing parenting moment: I've got way too many moments vying for first, but, one that stands out is when I took JR to the drycleaners and he asked the lady (politiely) why she had no teeth! It went sorta like this "Excuse me", how come you don't have any teeth?" Is it because you didn't brush your teeth?"

The future parenting moment I fear the most: my kids learning there IS organized sports in town! Long story.

The thing about my younger self that I'd like to reclaim: Some of the energy I had when I began parenting 20+ years ago..

Something that no one knows about me: Not sure there is anything left I haven't blabbed, but, let's see...I have three recurring dreams - always slightly different, but same themes: 1) my teeth fall out and I can't talk, 2) I fly (sorta like the flying nun kinda flying) just about the treetops, and 3) I am in trouble and try to dial for help, but can't - n ithese dreams I always have a rotary phone and just when I think I'm gonna succeed, I'm all thumbs and can't finish dialing..

Okay, so now its YOUR turn!

You're right. These are such a great way for us to learn more about each other. I didn't realize you and Cap have THAT many kids! LOL

I love JR's answer to the calendar question. And, I loved him asking about the missing teeth. They definitely keep us on our toes.

Thanks for playing along.
