Yeah, I know, hard to believe but I actually tackled another job today. Two weeks in a row! I'm definitely outta my slump headed into September... That's the good news. The bad news is I have no before pictures so you'll have to close your eyes and use your imagination as I ask you to imagine 4' of counter space COVERED and I mean COVERED with tomatoes, peppers, onions, green beans, yellow squash & zucchini. It was just out of control and I HAD to do something. You see we have had SO much this year, that we've run out of ways to use it. Neighbors now draw the blinds when they see me coming up the driveway with my basket of fresh picked veggies, and family members are threatening to vote me out if I show up with any more. And on top of that my freezer is full and until we can get a second upright, there aren't many options.
Cap decided we should can it. Usually by "we" he means he, but he had other stuff to do today, so that left "me". So that's what I did and it yielded 4 quarts of Spaghetti sauce (with chunks of peppers onions & squash), 5 pints of green beans and 3 pints of zucchini.
I'm pleased. Except now I have another project to tend to - clearing a shelf in the basement to store these, and the countless others we'll have by the time the garden is done producing...

That first picture is really pretty, like framable pretty.
Isn't it cool to grow your own stuff?
You guys are set for a couple of years.
We gave up on our garden about 1 month ago. It is an overgrown mess.
The three years prior to this one though, we kept it up pretty good and still have several cans of tomatoes in the basement.
Don't ever use that FoodSaver thing to perserve them. We lost everything we FoodSaved to frost bite!
I agree with Fawn..that first picture is very pretty.
In fact, I so wish I were there to do my homework for this week's photography class. It is on field of depth and that line of jars would have been perfect!!
And, I really really wish we were neighbors. I'd never turn you away with your basket of fresh veggies!! :)
