While school won't begin for JR for a few more weeks, he has begun some informal lessons. Not only has he begun to learn to read/recognize sight words, he had begun his Russian Lessons, practicing 10 minutes a day via a free online course. In the past we've tried to get him to learn Russian, but he had no interest in it. Now, he is now very enthused. Here is a sample of what he has learned the past few weeks.

I'm so impressed! And, it is super that he WANTS to learn the language.
Cap and I had always agreed to make it mandatory that both boys learn Russian. Of course this adoption is taking so long, H3 is already speaking fluently, so, that left just JR. Since language will clearly be an issue at first with H3, and I have the ability to choose what I will teach him this year, I thought the timing was right. I am really proud of him - he tries really hard, and it is not an easy language!
I think that is wonderful! Evan hasn't ever really shown much of an intrest, but I guess that's partly my fault.
I find myself speaking Russian phrases to the babies all the time. It just comes naturally when I use the words that I used with Evan when he was small. For example, for some reason my brain will not allow me to say "Good-Job" without saying "maladets" or "harashow" and I love that!
Jr had no interest til recently, and now it seems he can't wait to learn new phrases.
We also use those "adoption phrases" we learned while waiting for Skip, often, and without thinking about it. My favorite is "Ya-tiye-loo-bloo"
I will email you the link to the site we're using now. It's a great way to start his learning!
